Provides leadership and management to ensure that NPI and SMT engineering services are supporting the overall production, quality, financial and continuous improvement objectives of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1/ Plans, organizes and directs the NPI and SMT Engineering teams to meet objectives for new product introduction, manufacturing and improvement of existing processes.
2/ Collaborates with internal and external customers to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the company.
3/ Motivates and leads a high-performance engineering team, provides mentoring as a cornerstone to employee development.
4/ Coordinate resources and participate in the customer technical interface with regards to design for manufacturability (DFM).
5/ Identify and document cost and process trade off to customers.
6/ Assist with the analysis of labor tracking information for tracking to budget and cost reduction identification and achievement.
7/ Track and document progress on new product introduction and cost reduction efforts to senior management.
8/ Participate in the development of the capital equipment implementation plan.
9/ Performs other duties as assigned.
SCOPE OF POSITION (include if applicable for this position)
Manages the SMT and NPI Engineering teams.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree relating to Electrical Engineering or Industrial Management or Equivalent work and/or educational experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of 3 year’s production and/or engineering management experience in an electronics manufacturing environment, including automated SMT and THT processes, and New Products Introduction. Must possess a proven work history in effectively leading cross functional teams and
managing customer relationships.
Skills and Abilities
SKILLS REQUIRED
Must be able to analyze and solve manufacturing problems and possess strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak in front of groups. A demonstrated proficiency in managing people with diverse disciplines, including professional and non-professional skills, so
as to promote teamwork and cross functional teams across the organization is required. Experience with project management, engineering processes and standards, IPC-610 standards, ISO 9000 and training development are all desirable.
